Become A High School Science Teacher

The Science Education Program is designed to prepare students for careers in teaching high school biology or chemistry. The Health and Human Sciences Department and the School of Education have collaborated to create a rigorous program of study geared toward educating the whole person. Our program offers classroom experience and internship opportunities in addition to the subject matter content required by the State of California. As the result of having successfully completed our program, a student should be able to begin his or her teaching career with confidence.

Our program has been accredited by the State of California. Students who have successful completed either the Single Subject Matter Program in Biology (SSEB) or Chemistry (SSEC) do not have to take the CSET (California Subject Examinations for Teachers) exam; completion of the program demonstrates subject matter competency.
