Welcome to the Department of Mechanical Engineering at Loyola Marymount University! We hope that you enjoy exploring some of the innovative and exciting ways in which our students, alumni, faculty and staff are making positive impacts on the world.

Matt Siniawski, Ph.D
Mechanical Engineering Department Chair

Our LMU mechanical engineering community strives to live out the LMU mission. We encourage learning through modern undergraduate and graduate programs and courses that fuse theory and practice, exciting hands-on design projects, and participation in guided-research with world-renowned faculty mentors. We seek to educate the whole person by developing students’ technical abilities beyond the field of mechanical engineering. Our students grow as well-rounded individuals through exposure to a solid university Core curriculum and by participating in extracurricular activities, study abroad programs, and co-curricular activities. In the service of faith and the promotion of justice, we encourage our students to use their engineering skills for the greater benefit of the world and by participating in various outreach and service-oriented activities both inside and outside of the classroom.

Our department has a strong sense of community and we are all here to help prepare our students for life after graduation. We provide individualized attention, encourage students to grow personally and in collaborative teams, and help instill a sense of responsibility that inherently comes with the engineering profession.

Whether you are a prospective student, an alumnus, or just visiting, we hope that you enjoy your time learning more about the LMU Department of Mechanical Engineering.

Go Lions!
