• Your faculty advisor is assigned through your academic department. To find out who your assigned advisor is, check your degree audit in Degree Works. You can access degree works through MyLMU > Academics > Degree Works. You will see your academic advisor's name at the top of your degree audit.

  • All program and degree requirements can be found in the LMU University Bulletin. The Bulletin is published by the Office of the Registrar. Program information from the Bulletin appears in your Degree Works Degree Audit to show your personal progress toward these graduation requirements. Click HERE for Information on how to access Degree Works.

  • The LMU Core curriculum represents shared topics for coursework that all LMU students complete as part of their graduation requirements. Each student at LMU will have a unique experience with his or her Core; there are many courses that fulfill Core requirements and many programs that require or recommend specific courses.

Engineering (Civil, Mechanical, Computer and Electrical) majors must complete 30 units of core credit to include:

    • First Year Seminar
    • Rhetorical Arts
    • Philosophical Inquiry
    • Theological Inquiry
    • American Diversity
    • Faith and Reasoning
    • Ethics and Justice
    • Additional courses from the Explorations core area (Creative Experience or Human Behavior or Historical Analysis) to meet the remaining units needed to fulfill the core requirement.

Science (Biology, Chemistry, Biochemistry, Computer Science, Physics, Engineering Physics, Mathematics, Environmental Science, Statistics and Data Science, Health & Human Sciences) majors must complete 32 units of core credit to include:

    • First Year Seminar
    • Rhetorical Arts
    • Philosophical Inquiry
    • Theological Inquiry
    • American Diversity
    • Faith and Reasoning
    • Ethics and Justice
    • Additional courses from the Explorations core area (Creative Experience or Human Behavior or Historical Analysis) to meet the remaining units needed to fulfill the core requirement.
    • Registration for spring classes takes place in November each year.
    • Registration for fall classes takes place in April each year.

All science and engineering majors have advisor holds placed on their student accounts each semester before registration takes place. Advisor holds are lifted once students meet with their faculty advisor to go over the classes they plan to take in the upcoming semester. It is important that students set enough time aside before they register for classes to meet with their faculty advisors.

You can view your registration status by logging on to PROWL. Click on "Registration" and then click on "Prepare for Registration". Select the term you want registration information for and click submit. Your registration status will indicate when you will be able to sign up for your fall/spring classes.

  • You will need to fill out a transfer course review form online and wait to hear back from the registrar’s office before signing up for the course. The Registrar's Office confirms whether courses are transferrable as core or major credits and whether they satisfy lower-division credit or upper-division credit.

    • Note LMU’s policy regarding concurrent enrollment: LMU degree-seeking students may not enroll at another institution while enrolled at LMU (during fall and spring semesters) to transfer credits.
    • Once you have completed the course, send your official transcript with your final grade to LMU’s Registrar’s Office for posting.
  • You will first need to consult with the chair of the department. Once you two have met to go over your intentions, you can fill out a change of program form online

Some programs have prerequisites that need to be completed prior to being able to join a program. You can refer to the University Bulletin for more information on major prerequisite requirements.

  • You must receive a minimum score of 4 on the AP exam for it to count as college credit. Be sure to log in to the college board webpage to submit your official test score report to LMU for processing.

  • You qualify for a unit overload if you are in good academic standing and have a minimum 3.50 GPA. If you would like to participate in a unit overload petition, please fill out a unit overload petition online.

Unit overload forms will be sent to the registrar’s office after grades are released, pending a 3.5 semester GPA.

Unit overload petitions are processed two weeks before the start of the semester. You will want to be strategic about which class you will hold off on registering for until unit overload forms are professed. You want to pick something that you are guaranteed you will be able to take in the coming term.
