The purpose of the rapid prototyping laboratory is to provide facilities for computer-aided design (CAD), manufacturing (CAM), rapid prototyping of solid models, and dimensional accuracy and inspection. This laboratory supports many of the mechanical engineering projects and courses. The laboratory contains several state-of-the-art rapid prototyping machines. The laboratory is available to mechanical engineering students Monday through Friday 8am – 10pm, but student access is restricted to properly trained research and teaching assistants on an as needed basis. This lab is located in Pereira Hall, Room 135.

Equipment Located in the Rapid Prototyping Lab:

  • 4 Windows-based personal computers
  • Prototyping machine STRATASYS F-270
  • Fused Deposition Modeling (FDM 1650)
  • STRATASYS Objet30 Pro
  • Wesco Stereo Microscope
  • Surface measurement machine, Surtronic Model 25
  • 5 Axis FANUC Robot with vision system
