"For all of you navigating a new, unique way of learning, be there for each other with kindness and understanding. It is perfectly normal to feel nervousness through uncertain times, but also keep this time as a reminder to not take friendships, knowledge, and the present for granted. As you continue moving forward, embrace the community connecting and becoming stronger. We are all in this together and will get through this together!"

"I graduated from LMU in December of 1979, went on to medical school, and, I have a wonderful private practice. You ought to decide now if you consider yourself a scientist or a mere student of science. There are many folks who studied science, but, when its crunch time, they tend to forget the basics. If you can be intellectually honest, have intellectual courage, adherence to logic, and use of your God given intellect, you will blaze a path toward Heaven and be held ultimately as a mentor to many."

"As I reach the end of the second semester of my PhD, the biggest piece of advice I have is the following: Never stop asking questions, especially stupid questions. I think whenever you enter a new place, whether it be a new job or a new school, there's a feeling we have that we need to proves ourselves, that we need to show that we belong (or at least I had that feeling). In reality, it's ok not to know things! Wherever we are, we're there to learn and discover, to push science forward. The best way to do that is by asking questions!"

"If there's one thing I learned from my experience as an engineer, it is this: Your education is a great background but there will always be challenges in life and in work that you have not faced before. Use your problem solving skills to tackle any problem. Don't forget to 'think outside the box.' There are many ways to approach a problem. Use your skills, background, and trust the Lord to show you the answers. Sometimes, a good night's sleep is all that is needed for that solution to materialize! Have faith in God and in yourselves and don't give up or be discouraged. I believe in each and every one of you to be able to solve the problems at hand with new and innovative solutions. I pray for your futures, yet encourage you to focus on what you can do in the present. God bless you!"

"We experienced test anxiety in our academic preparation, but going through other, unforeseen events, and restarting plans from scratch after unplanned failures or rejection —in love and in career— strengthens personal resolve."
