The Engineering Design Showcase is the culmination of capstone, thesis and research projects conducted by undergraduate seniors and graduate students studying engineering. Students will present their projects to the LMU community and industry professionals.

Engineering Design Showcase 2023
On April 28, undergraduate and graduate students in civil and environmental engineering, electrical and computer engineering, mechanical engineering, and healthcare systems engineering presented their capstone projects to industry representatives, alumni, and the Loyola Marymount University community. Projects varied from a bike helmet capable of alerting riders of oncoming dangers, a design for a new basketball arena at LMU, a four-wheel-drive off-road vehicle built from the ground up, to projects aiding the unhoused in downtown Los Angeles, and sea level rise projections for the Los Angeles area.
Engineering Design Showcase 2022
The 2022 showcase took place on Friday, April 29, 2022. Engineering undergraduate students presented their capstone and research projects alongside the work of graduate research students to the LMU community and industry representatives.
Engineering Design Showcase 2021
The 2021 showcase took place virtually on Friday, April 30. Undergraduate students presented their capstone and research projects alongside the work of graduate research students to the LMU community and industry representatives. Engineering Design Showcase 2019
The 2019 showcase took place on Friday, May 3 in the Life Sciences Building. Group projects ranged from creating an audio production instrument to designing an electric vehicle to compete in Shell’s Eco‐Marathon competition.
Engineering Design Showcase 2018
Group projects for the 2018 showcase ranged from developing a vehicle for the ASME Human Powered Vehicle Challenge to developing an optimum laser for ultrafast biomedical imaging systems. Seniors and graduates channeled the lessons they learned over the course of their education into the projects they developed from concept through to manufacturing. The 2018 showcase took place on Friday, April 27.
Engineering Design Showcase 2017
Engineering seniors and graduate students presented their capstone projects at the Engineering Capstone Design Showcase held on Thursday, April 27. These group projects ranged from developing wireless networks for drone communication to designing an aircraft with unique aerodynamic dimensions.
Engineering Design Showcase 2016
Projects for the 2016 showcase ranged from developing a deployable reusable energy unit for the Mars rover; to developing a high powered, reusable rocket; to designing assistive devices for special needs children. The 2016 Engineering Capstone Design Showcase took place on Friday, April 29.
