Kirk Tamaddon, M.D., is the area medical director and chief of staff at Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles Medical Center.
As area medical director and chief of staff, he is responsible for the care delivered by 535 physicians (and 1900 employees) to more than 245,000 Kaiser Permanente member patients at a 252-bed hospital and 7 medical office satellite buildings. Tamaddon is accountable for all aspects that impact patient care, physician practice, and business success, including responsibility over a $502 million budget. He prepares the medical center for future success in the competitive Los Angeles healthcare market through recruiting top talent, exploration, use of new innovations, technologies, and change management efforts.
In 2020-2023 Dr. Tamaddon led and navigated Kaiser Permanente West Los Angeles successfully and safely through the COVID-19 Pandemic in one of the hardest-hit communities and cities in the United States. He has led a leadership team that has received recognition for psychological safety and a high-performance culture by developing a more inclusive and diverse workforce and reducing care disparities among ethnically diverse patient populations.
Tamaddon credits much of his joy and success in life to his wife Fedra (a school teacher) and their three children, Darius, Cameron, and Saam who also keep him active as avid ping-pong and tennis players.
